Mission of Okauchee Lake Sailing School

Encourage, develop, promote, and foster amateur yachting and yacht racing in the inland lakes of the US by providing professional instruction for students wishing to become recreational sailors and learn basic sailing and water safety skills, and;

Support and develop amateur athletes for national or international competition in sailing by providing professional coaching for athletes striving to become competitive sailors and learn advanced skills, tactics, strategy and racing psychology

The Okauchee Lake Sailing School is organized exclusively to foster national sports competition as defined under sections 501(c)(3).

Classes are open to all youth regardless of race, color or creed.

2011 Instructor Bios

Kyle Stack
Kyle is from Lac La Belle, and will be US Sailing level two certified by summer.  He attends Glenbrook North High School.  Kyle in a long time IOD sailor.  In X boats, Kyle won the GLSS and TRAP (Senior) regattas and placed 2nd at the ILYA Junior Inland in 2004.  Kyle was a three time qualifier to the X Blue Chip.  
 
Blake Kenney
Blake Kenney is from North Lake and is a junior at Arrowhead High School and plans to go to college at Madison, Florida Gulf Coast, or Colorado.  He has been sailing for 11 years, mainly for North Lake.  He has racing experience with optis, x-boats, MC's, and 420's.  This will be his third year instructing on North Lake, and my first on Okauchee.  He is excited for the new partnership with both fleets and is happy to be involved in two great programs.  His other hobbies include wakeboarding, snowboarding, and longboarding.
 
Shannon Smith
Shannon is a former Okauchee lake X boat sailor. In X boats, she was a 2 time recipient of the "Top Female Skipper" award. She placed 7th in the Junior Inland, 13th in the Senior Inland, and 2nd at the WYA. She qualified for the Blue Chip twice. Last year she was an instructor at the Oconomowoc Lake Club.
